What does it mean if my module mark contains letters?

The University uses a 0-100 numerical marking scale, which will sometimes also include letters applied against marks.

To help you understand all of the numbers and letters you may see on your results, please read the University Explanation of Marks page

How do I apply for a resit?

You apply for a resit online via the Results and re-sit Application page on Minerva using your university username and password.

You can do this from the beginning of July 2024.

You must apply for any module which has any assessment you want to resit, by selecting ‘Yes’ next to the modules that you have failed and are eligible to re-sit.

When do I need to apply for my resit by?

Undergraduate Finalist Students

Undergraduate Finalists will be able to apply online from 12:00 noon Monday 8th July.

The deadline for applications is 12:00 noon Friday 12th July 2024.

After this deadline has passed, if you are eligible for an award and have not applied to resit, you will be deemed to have accepted the award.

Undergraduate Non-finalist Students

Undergraduate non-finalists will be able to apply online from 12:00 noon Monday 8th July 2024.

The deadline for applications is 5pm Wednesday 17th July 2024.

Postgraduate Students

Postgraduates will be able to apply online from 12:00 noon Monday 8th July 2024.

The deadline for applications is 5pm Wednesday 17th July 2024.

Do I need to pay for a resit?

From the 2023/2024 session resit fees will no longer be charged.

Students are required to pay any resit fees charged before the 2023/2024 session.

Any fees for resits that took place in 2023 are valid, as these resits will have taken place in the 2022/2023 session.

When is the resit period?

The August Resit period will run from 13 to 23 August 2024 (including Saturday 17 August 2024).

The August resit timetable is due to be published from 29th July 2024.

It is not possible to find out the exact date of an assessment before you apply to re-sit and therefore you need to make yourself available throughout this period.

Once the timetable has been published, you will be able to view your personal assessment timetable via Minerva - see the Assessment Timetable publication dates webpage.

After you have applied you need to check you have been entered for the appropriate exams, and inform the Assessment & Progress Team immediately about any discrepancies.

Do I need to be on campus to resit?

If your original examination was an on-campus exam, you will need to be on-campus for the resit examination.

I have failed a module, but my communication says I can progress. What do I need to do?

You must decide if you want to resit the module you have failed.

All marks will be shown on your transcript, but your final degree classification will be calculated based on your level 2 and level 3 marks.

I have received a communication which says I cannot progress. What does this mean?

This means you have not met the criteria to enable you to progress to the next level of your programme.

You may not have passed enough credits, or you may not have passed a pass for progression (pfp) module.

You will need to apply for and resit one or more modules to a pass standard in the August resit period to be able to progress to the next level of study.

I’ve passed 100 credits, why do I need to resit?

You may need to resit to progress because although you passed 100 credits, you have not obtained 100 credits at your level of study.

This can happen if some of the modules you have passed are below your level of study. For example: If you are currently in Year 2 then you are required to have completed 100 Level 2 credits

Alternatively, you may have failed one or more pass for progression modules (PFPS). Please check the University Module and Programme Catalogue for your programme to see which are pass for progression modules.

Can I change programme at this stage?

Undergraduate and postgraduate students – changes from LUBS to another academic school

If you wish to transfer to a programme outside of LUBS, then your request must be considered by the school that manages the programme that you wish to transfer to.

Please complete this Initial Enquiry Form, which will enable the new Parent School to consider your request. If the new Parent School agrees to the transfer in principle, then they will be able to advise you on how you can formalise the transfer and any additional next steps.

For further information on programme transfers, please read the information on the Transfer to a New Programme page.

Undergraduate students – programme changes within LUBS

All programme changes will be subject to capacity in the receiving programme, and students will be expected to meet the full academic requirements of the new programme.

Please submit an Initial Enquiry Form.

Once you have submitted your form, the Faculty/School of Business will investigate the options available, and will aim to provide you with guidance on the next steps in due course. Please be patient while we consider your request.

If a transfer is possible, you will receive in principle approval with details of the options available to you. Once you have gathered all the relevant information and decided on your options, you can submit a formal request to change programme, as advised by the team.

Please note, the School is required to work to set deadlines throughout the academic year, and therefore in some cases we may be unable to consider a transfer request. Please contact the team with details of your request at your earliest convenience, and they will be able to advise.

For further information on programme transfers, please read the information on the Transfer to a New Programme page.

If you feel that you have a valid reason as to why you need to leave the UK, please contact the team at LUBSQuality@leeds.ac.uk to discuss your circumstances, and they will be able to advise you further.
