Student Education and Experience at LUBS

Assessment structures vary across modules, but most modules include some form of formative assessment or activity to help you prepare for summative work. This may include practice tasks, quizzes, draft work, class activities or other opportunities to receive feedback before a final assessed submission.

Your module handbook and Minerva module area will provide specific details for each module.

You will receive comprehensive feedback for all academic coursework activities and presentations. For exams, only students who have not passed the module will receive feedback, though all students will have the opportunity to contact their module lead for further information.

Each module in Minerva will have a dedicated area for assessments. Submission areas and relevant links will become available for you to upload your work no later than two weeks prior to the submission date.

The deadline for completing your registration and identity check is 5pm on Monday 26th of October. Please remember to complete both stages of your registration (online registration form and identity check). We would strongly advise against applying to be a School Rep whilst also acting as a Course Rep, and vice versa, due to the high workload demanded of both roles.

University of Leeds students are expected to attend all of their teaching activities, and to engage with any digital resources that are made available to them. You will be expected to scan the attendance QR code available in the teaching room for any in-person sessions. We understand that occasionally you may be unable to attend a session; if this is the case, you must submit an absence notification request via Student. You must complete the Academic Integrity test and tutorial within the first few weeks of teaching and before submitting your first assignment. This is an important requirement and will help ensure that you understand academic integrity expectations, including how to avoid common issues. If you have attended the University of Leeds pre-sessional English programme, you must still complete the Academic Integrity tutorial and test when you join your new academic programme. This additional tutorial covers a wider range of topics than the pre-sessional version, and is a strict requirement for all new students.

We expect sessions to end 5 minutes before the hour and start 5 minutes past the hour, so as to enable students to walk to their sessions. You can read further information about timetabled sessions on the Student Guide.

Minor changes may still occur during the first two weeks of teaching.

We encourage students to check their timetables regularly throughout the academic year. This is so you can be aware of any unforeseen last-minute changes to a session, or ad-hoc sessions that may be organised later in the year.
