Attendance

Our teaching sessions are interactive and dynamic, so tutors rely on students attending their timetabled teaching sessions. Even where lecture capture is available, this is intended to supplement live sessions as an additional learning tool, not to replace it.

When you register with the University, you sign up to the Taught Student Contract and agree to abide by the University’s rules and regulations regarding attendance.

For the Code of Practice on Attendance and further information on the University policy and procedures, visit the ‘For Students’ Attendance and Absence pages.

Attendance responsibilities

  • If you are studying on a full-time programmes, you are expected to attend all term-time teaching activities throughout the academic year (lectures, seminars, workshops or practical sessions).
  • If you are a Masters student, you are also expected to attend dissertation sessions during the summer – more information can be found on our Dissertations and Projects pages.
  • You must attend your timetabled teaching activities only. This is essential for any face-to-face sessions to ensure social distancing can be maintained.
