In-sessional Language Support

Leeds University Business School offers free extra teaching for our students who need further support with their academic language skills. This page will introduce you to what is available, and how it may help you get the most out of your studies at Leeds.

This extra teaching is called in-sessional language support - meaning you undertake it at the same time as your normal degree programme. It is provided by the University Language Centre and is available for 1st year undergraduates and Master's students. The content has been designed to develop your academic literacy skills, using language appropriate to business writing.

The in-sessional support course is provided free to students, but there are a limited number of places available - so please apply quickly if you would like to join.

How to apply to attend in-sessional sessions

Please apply for a place on the LUBS Pre-in-sessional English course using the short form below.

Deadline to apply: Sunday 27 September 2026

Students who have already completed a pre-sessional course at Leeds

If you have already attended a pre-sessional course, you may be automatically invited to a session based on your results. Your Academic Personal Tutor may also refer you to these sessions after you have met with them.

Further language support

Please note that spaces on the in-sessional programme are limited and will be offered to students considered to be most suited to the sessions.

There is a large range of language support available to all students via the Library service's Language Zone. Follow the link or watch the video below to learn more:
